Multi-car crash in York County leaves pedestrian dead

The crash happened on SC Highway 5 near Estate Drive.

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A pedestrian died after being struck by an overturned vehicle in a multi-car crash in York County.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on South Carolina Highway 5 near Estate Drive. A Nissan Altima struck a stopped Honda Ridgeline. The impact caused the Honda to hit a Jeep Cherokee, which then flipped over and struck two pedestrians standing in the median.

Both pedestrians were injured in the crash. One died Sunday from their injuries, according to authorities.

The drivers of the Jeep and Nissan, as well as a passenger in the Nissan, were also injured in the collision.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or the conditions of the surviving victims. Investigators have not said if anyone will face charges.
