PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We have a beautiful day ahead — the prettiest one for the next seven days — so please find some time to get outside and enjoy it!

Today, skies will be mostly sunny, with a crisp, cool breeze out of the north-northwest. That cooler breeze will bring high temperatures back to normal, around 67° this afternoon. The UV index is 7 (HIGH), and tree pollen counts will also be in the HIGH category.

Tonight, a warm front that is currently stretched across southern Alabama and Georgia will start to move northward. As it approaches the Carolinas, clouds are forecast to increase. Lows will be near 50°.

The warm front is not expected to make much progress into North Carolina tomorrow, so we will keep skies mostly cloudy and add isolated, light showers to the mix for Wednesday. Highs are going to stay in the upper-60s.

The front moves through later on Thursday, and we will experience a big surge of warm air across the East Coast. Highs Thursday will be in the lower-80s, and then highs will jump into the upper-80’s Friday and Saturday.  That’s a whopping 20 degrees above normal!

A cold front is expected to cross the state Sunday, bringing a 60% chance of showers and a few thunderstorms.  The chance of rain is 60%, and highs will be in the lower-80s.

We will feel the effects of the cold front having passed through the Piedmont by Monday. Highs will return to the upper-60s and there will be a continuing 50% chance of showers in the early morning.
