Winston-Salem police said the incident appears to be isolated and investigation remains ongoing.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man is dead after shooting inside a home on Peachtree Street in Winston-Salem, police say.Â
A child was also injured in the shooting.Â
Officers said the shooting happened Wednesday night when they found 54-year-old John Derriman Richards inside the home on the 1700 block of Peachtree Street. Richards sustained deadly gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.Â
A child inside the home also suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is in stable condition.Â
Two other adults and three children who were in the house at the of the shooting were not injured, police say.Â
CSI responded to the scene and will continue to investigate the incident as it is ongoing.Â
