Man charged with murder in deadly shooting in Winston-Salem, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police said a man is in custody after a deadly shooting in Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem police said they continued to investigate the death of Jeremy Obrien McClure, 39, in a shooting on Indiana Avenue on Dec. 14.

Officers said Tuesday night, WSPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, Gun Crime Reduction Unit (GCRU), Criminal Investigations Division (CID), and Gang Unit conducted a search warrant for an apartment on the 700 block of Ferrell Court.

Police said Kivaughn Stacker, 29, was arrested and charged with felony Firearm by Felon, felony Murder, and misdemeanor Resist, Delay, and Obstruct an Officer.

Officers said Stacker was taken to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center (FCLEDC) where he was given no bond allowed.

One person has died after a shooting in Winston-Salem on Saturday, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

Police said they responded to a report of a shooting on Indiana Avenue at around 5:49 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they said they found a man with gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services also arrived at the scene.

Jeremy Obrien McClure, 39, died from his injuries, according to police. 

Police said the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence. 

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and are investigating the shooting.
