WALKERTOWN, N.C. — A Walkertown man is facing a child abuse charge after he was accused of placing a child in a tub of scalding-hot water.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to the 6000 block of Cain Forest Drive in response to an incident that involved suspected child abuse on July 21 around 11:45 p.m.
When officers arrived, they were told the child may have pulled a pot of boiling water from the kitchen stove onto themselves.
During the investigation, deputies said it was determined that the child had been placed in a tub of scalding-hot water, which was consistent with the severe injuries present on the child’s body.
Deputies said James Wilford Huff, 34, of Walkertown was arrested and charged with one count of Felony Intentional Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Injury Thursday.
Huff appeared before a magistrate and received a secured bond in the amount of $300,000.
Huff is set to appear in court Friday.
