Shawn Love was extradited to South Carolina after spending six months in the Mecklenburg County jail.
ROCK HILL, S.C. — A man charged with stabbing his mother to death in Rock Hill earlier this year was extradited to South Carolina and is expected to face a judge on Friday, officials confirmed.
Shawn Love, 27, was extradited from Charlotte to Rock Hill on Friday and served warrants for murder and possession of a weapon during a crime of violence in connection with the killing of his mother, Carol Love, who was found dead at a home on Brunswick Drive in April.
Love is scheduled to have a bond hearing at 2 p.m. in Rock Hill Municipal Court.
Shawn Love was arrested in Huntersville earlier this year in an unrelated case and charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering. Court records say Love threatened a person at knifepoint while attempting to steal their car.
Love was held in the Mecklenburg County jail under a $100,000 bond awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
Now, Carol Love’s family is trying to understand how this happened. Kolby Byers is Carol’s oldest son and described her as the glue to the family. For this family, everyone fits together and Carol Love was at the center.
“She was the main piece,” Byers said. “The main piece to the puzzle.”
He said the family can’t stop thinking about her loss and all she did for the family. She raised four children as a single mother and provided everything for her family. The family told WCNC Charlotte’s Austin Walker she handled a lot.
“This is where all the family functions happen,” Byer said, as he motioned to the dining room. “Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year. Everything right here.”
Byer said it’s now up to him to be the glue and keep the family puzzle together.
“I’ll do the cooking,” Byer said “I was always in the kitchen learning. I want her to know I have it.”
