Port City Daily, WHQR and WECT will welcome candidates to a forum at Cape Fear Community College’s Union Station Auditorium on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. The three media partners have come together in the last three years to inform voters on where candidates’ stand on pressing issues, during both primary and general election seasons.

The first half of Wednesday’s forum, open to the public, will include journalists Brenna Flanagan of Port City Daily, Ava Brendgord of WECT and Kelly Kenoyer of WHQR asking commissioner candidates questions at 6 p.m.

Thereafter at 7:15 p.m., the board of education candidates will take the mic to speak on issues as posed by Flanagan, Brendgord and Rachel Keith (WHQR).

Both forums will be moderated by WECT anchor Jon Evans. While reporters have devised questions for the candidates, the media consortium is also asking for readers, listeners and viewers to include ideas they would like broached; questions are being accepted here.

Port City Daily has also begun publishing its candidate questionnaires ahead of the election, which can be read here.
