PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There could be one final round of winter precipitation in the Piedmont Triad on Thursday morning.

Skies are cloudy on Thursday morning and a light snow could set in at around 8 or 9 a.m. However, that snow is not likely to lead to much accumulation.

Most roads in the Triad area are dry. However, drivers should still be on the lookout for icy spots on less-traveled roads and on the shoulders.

By lunchtime, winds will begin to pick up with wind gusts reaching 30-35 mph. Those wind gusts will cause a wind chill between 15 and 20 degrees on Thursday leading to bitter cold throughout the day.

Temperatures across the Triad are in the mid-20s on Thursday morning and the high is around 32 degrees.

Most of the Winter Weather Advisories throughout the Triad are set to expire at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Clear, sunny skies on Friday with a low of 20 degrees and a high of 42 degrees.

Some clouds return on Saturday but the temperatures continue to gradually increase with a high of 46 degrees and a low of 25 degrees.

Sparse cloud cover is forecasted for Sunday as temperatures break back over 50 degrees, with a high of 54 degrees and a low of 28 degrees.

The bitterly cold temperatures will have come to an end by the start of next week with high temperatures in the high-50s and low-60s and lows above freezing.
