LINC provides new workshops for previously incarcerated individuals.

WILMINGTON — Leading Into New Communities (LINC) is announcing a new series of free workshops and one-on-one support services designed for reentry and workforce reintegration for men and women returning from prison.

LINC provides transitional living and supportive case management to meet the immediate needs of men and women returning from prison, assisting them in becoming productive members of the community in southeastern North Carolina.

LINC’s job readiness program focuses on supplying practical tools to help individuals navigate the job market. They provide resume writing and formatting, personalized cover letter assistance, help completing job applications and navigating employment websites, job interview coaching and role playing and workplace expectations and soft skills training.

LINC’s Employment Exploration Workshop will assist individuals with filling out job applications, navigating online employment sites and creating cover letters and resumes. The workshop is held on Wednesdays at 20 North 4th Street, Suite 430, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Thursdays at 801 Princess Street, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The workshop is open for drop-ins and is scheduled to run indefinitely.

“We know that stable employment is one of the strongest factors in reducing recidivism. Through these workshops and individual coaching sessions, we’re equipping people with the tools they need to move forward with confidence,” said Frankie Roberts, executive director of LINC.

Future workshops will include warehousing and distribution and light construction.

“Our goal is to remove barriers to employment for individuals returning to our communities from incarceration,” said Roberts.
