Allmendinger will drive Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 car full-time in the Cup Series in 2025.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — AJ Allmendinger is coming back to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2015 with Kaulig Racing, the team announced on Thursday.Â
Allmendinger currently drives for Kaulig in the Xfinity Series with a part-time Cup schedule. He’s driven for Kaulig Racing in some capacity since 2019 in both series.Â
Allmendinger will drive the team’s No. 16 car — the entry he’s split with several drivers, including Ty Dillon, Shane van Gisbergen and Josh Williams — full-time next season.Â
The veteran driver has two Cup Series wins with Kaulig, including the Bank of America ROVAL 400 last September. He returned to the Xfinity Series in 2024 when the team failed to secure enough sponsorship for a full-time entry. He’s currently sixth in points as driver of Kaulig’s No. 16 car.Â
Allmendinger has three career wins in the Cup Series, all on road courses.Â
Kaulig also fields a full-time Cup Series entry for Daniel Hemric. It’s unclear if the Kannapolis native will return to the team next season. Hemric is currently 30th in the Cup Series standings.Â
