Camino unveils a new dental facility to enhance healthcare for Charlotte’s Latino community.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Camino Salud has unveiled a new dental facility, marking a significant expansion of its healthcare services for the Latino community in Charlotte.
For more than two decades, the nonprofit has served as a critical resource for Latino families, and its latest addition addresses a crucial healthcare need. Dr. Frank Diaz, the facility’s dental director, understands the importance of this service personally.
“Being from Mexico, I came here when I was a young boy, and I suffered a lot of those dental problems,” Diaz said. “Having this clinic here makes it possible for us to actually do the treatment and get rid of that infection that’s causing pain.”
Research indicates dental care is among the top healthcare needs for the Latino population in Charlotte. The new facility is equipped with high-quality dental equipment capable of providing comprehensive services, from preventative care to advanced treatments like crowns and implants.
Rusty Price, Camino Health Center’s director, emphasized the transformative nature of the new facility. “We’ve gone from a passionate group of people serving in really bad facilities to having a state-of-the-art clinic where we’re going to be able to help people even more and with more dignity,” Price said.
Diaz highlighted the facility’s potential impact, noting, “It makes a huge impact. Having all the equipment to provide preventative dental care, but also to provide patients with dentures, crowns, and more advanced implants, we were able to really make a big change in the quality of life for those we serve.”
The nonprofit’s approach goes beyond medical treatment. “Here, it’s not transactional,” Price stressed. “When they come here, they’re going to be included in this family. We want each person that engages with our services to feel a part of Camino.”
This expansion represents Camino’s continued commitment to removing healthcare barriers for the Latino community. The new dental facility joins the organization’s existing services, which include primary care, mental health support, and nutritional counseling.
Dr. Diaz underscored the significance of the new facility, stating, “Making this clinic a reality has allowed a lot of patients to be served.”
