(WGHP) — Partly cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms possible this evening. Not everyone will see a storm but isolated storms will continue to roll through the Piedmont Triad through Friday evening. A couple of the stronger storms could become severe due to the threat of damaging winds and small hail. Temperatures will fall into the mid 70s by 8 PM.
While lingering stray showers or a thunderstorm can’t be ruled out overnight, most will be quiet Friday night into early Saturday morning with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will fall into the low to mid 60s by Saturday morning. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the low 80s. We’ll see partly cloudy skies to start the weekend but by Saturday afternoon, mainly after 1 PM scattered showers and storms will start popping up across the area and will linger through Saturday evening and the early overnight hours. A level 2 threat for severe weather is in place for any stronger storms that are able to form. A few severe thunderstorms are possible mainly Saturday afternoon due to the threat for damaging winds and hail. The chance for storms Saturday is 70%.
Isolated to scattered storms remain possible on Sunday as the cold front that sparks Saturday’s storms lingers over the area. Temperatures will start in the low 60s Sunday morning and will reach the mid 70s by the afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy and the chance for rain/storms is 50%.
Mostly sunny skies return Monday but lingering showers can’t be ruled out as the low pressure system that will bring our weekend rain continues to linger. Most will likely stay dry on Monday but the chance for rain is 30%. Temperatures will also be slightly cooler in the morning with lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs reach the mid 70s.
