Increased fire danger, high tree pollen in Triad on Thursday

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is an increased fire danger again today. Please do what you can to prevent outdoor burning.

The unseasonably mild weather will continue, but be ready to fight off the pollen!  Tree pollen (primarily cedar and juniper) will continue to be in the HIGH category today with LOW levels of grass pollen.

Clouds are expected to increase through the day, but temperatures are still going to rise to the upper-70s.

Overnight, skies will clear out just in time to see a full lunar eclipse!  The peak viewing time is between 2:45 am and 3:15 am. Lows, near daybreak, will be in the upper-40s.

The week will end with mild temperatures, in the mid-70s. Friday will be a super day to get outside and enjoy lower-70s and partly cloudy skies. Clouds are expected to roll in on Saturday ahead of a strong storm system though we will keep rain at bay until later in the weekend.  Highs on Saturday will bounce back into the mid-70s.

A powerful storm is forecast to rumble across the East Coast this weekend.  While our mountains may get some stronger thunderstorms late Saturday, the severe weather threat won’t be a problem for the Piedmont until perhaps early Sunday. Highs will be in the lower-70s on Sunday afternoon, and as the cold front comes in, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected from the NC foothills to the coast. Please stay tuned to FOX8 for more details.
