Human remains found in wooded area in Reidsville, investigators say

Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office said a person found the human remains on their property and called authorities.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating ‘human skeletal remains’ that were found near Reidsville on Sunday, Dec. 1. 

Deputies said an individual found the ‘human skeletal remains’ in a wooded area along their property lines at the 7900 block of U.S. Hwy 158 West in Reidsville. 

The identity of the person found has not yet been confirmed and it is unknown if foul play was involved in the person’s death, according to deputies.

The found remains have been sent for testing to determine the person’s identity along with the time and cause of death. 

Both the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner responded to the scene. 

Deputies are asking anyone with information about the person found to contact the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office at 336-634-3232 or Rockingham County Crime Stoppers at 336-349-9683.

The investigation remains ongoing.
