Homicide investigation in Charlotte's University City area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A homicide is under investigation in Charlotte’s University City area, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The incident happened on Dave McKinney Avenue near North Tryon Street. CMPD put an alert out about the homicide just before 10 p.m. on Monday.

Police did not say how many victims there were. It’s unclear if any suspects were arrested. Officials did not say what led to the homicide.

No further information is available. More details will be provided when they are released.

Monday’s homicide is the fourth in a 36-hour period in the Queen City. On Sunday around noon, one person was shot and killed at an apartment complex in west Charlotte. Later around 10 p.m., a man was killed in a shooting on Old Camden Road. And around 11 p.m., a deadly shooting outside the 1st and Goal sports bar on University City Boulevard left one person dead and two others hurt.
