Game of the Week

Northern Guilford at Grimsley is our game of the week.

Both teams have played nine games, and both teams have won nine games, but only one can be crowned the Metro 4A champions.

The Whirlies haven’t lost a conference game since 2019.

They continued that streak tonight by overtaking the Nighthawks 42 to 14.

Frenzy Highlights

The road to a two-state championship runs through the town of Reidsville more times than not.

The Rams were looking to close out a perfect regular season with a game against Morehead and roll into the playoffs with some momentum, and that’s exactly what happened tonight.

The Rams started off with the ball. Dionate Neal connected with Michael Smith over the middle and took off down the sideline.

The junior carried a couple of defenders with him to move the chains into Rams territory.

A couple of plays later, there was a handoff to Jariel Cobb in motion. He carried the rock in for the house call.

Reidsville was on the board first tonight and up by 7 to 0.

During the Rams’ very next possession, Neal’s quick pass to Kendre Harrison in the endzone stood no chance for Morehead. The 6 to 7 tight end grabbed it with ease, and that was another six for Reidsville.

And they just keep on adding.

Savvion Johnson on the carry barrelled his way in for the score, and the Rams extended their lead to 20 to 0.

Reidsville stayed perfect in the regular season with a 52 to 7 win over Morehead.

Central Davidson was going for a share of the Mid-Piedmont 3A title, but the Spartans would have had to upset Oak Grove on its home field.

The Grizzlies were on a 7-game win streak and looking to make it 8.

Grayson Treadway went to the air and found Anthony Giantasio for the score.

It was 21 to 6 with the Grizzlies out in front.

Oak Grove was back with the ball and driving. But after the bad snap Zhamir Harper, came in to get the sacks.

The Grizzlies settled for a field goal attempt. Eli Fulcher came in and booted it through, bringing the game 24 to 6 with Oak Grove in front at the half.

Oak Ridge ultimately prevailed. The final score was 39 to 21.
