High Point Police arrest 2 after call about suspicious activity

One of the suspects has been charged with possessing a stolen firearm.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point Police officers arrested two people early Tuesday morning after receiving a call from someone about suspicious activity in the 300 block of E Parkway Ave.

The caller told police they saw people in dark colors messing with a vehicle before walking into a neighbor’s yard. After arriving on scene, patrol officers confronted three suspects, and two of them attempted to flee.

The officers were able to catch up with both of the fleeing suspects and arrested them. 

Steven B. Taylor Jr., 21, had a Taurus 9mm pistol in his possession that had been reported stolen. He was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, felony carrying a concealed gun and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.

Deshawn N. Jackson, 19, was charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer. Police said they did not arrest the third suspect.
