Police said the suspect is facing charges for multiple crimes.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man is charged with several crimes after a domestic disturbance, High Point police said.

Officers said they responded to the 700 block of Westchester Drive on Sunday around 11:30 a.m.

The victim told officers David Smith, 40, broke into her home while she was out, and then locked himself inside. Smith also had an active order for arrest for a felony probation violation.

Officers responded to the home to help. When they went inside the apartment, Smith was already gone.

As officers searched the complex, neighbors pointed them toward nearby woods. An officer with K9 tracked several miles for about an hour.

Smith was spotted near June Place and Pine Ridge Drive and arrested him.

He was charged with domestic criminal trespass, assault on a female, breaking and entering, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and communicating threats. He was also served an order for arrest (DFA) for absconding from probation.

Smith was taken to the Guilford County Jail and given a domestic bond.
