High of 81, partly cloud in Triad on Tuesday

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We’re starting to warm up! Highs this afternoon are expected to rise to the lower-80s under partly cloudy skies. Overnight, skies will clear out nicely, allowing temperatures to settle to the lower-60s by daybreak tomorrow.

There is a cold front to our north and an area of low pressure is forecast to ride along that front, into central Virginia, tomorrow. In the Piedmont, it will be quite warm with highs in the mid-80s.  There is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, as the low to our north may spark a few storms.  Severe weather is not expected.

Thursday remains unseasonably warm with highs returning to the mid-80s. There is only a 20% chance of showers.

An approaching cold front kicks up more thunderstorms Friday afternoon.  The chance of rain is 40% and highs will be in the lower-80s. Some lingering showers are expected early Saturday, then skies will clear out nicely later in the day. Highs on Saturday will be in the mid-70s, then temperatures drop to the lower-70s on Sunday under sunny skies.

We will start the new work week with sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s.
