High fire danger in North Carolina as snow, ice thaw

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — As the snow and ice thaws out in the region, North Carolina has issued a warning regarding a high risk for fires, according to the North Carolina Forest Service.

The Outer Banks is among the regions considered at a moderate risk of wildfires. Elizabeth City, Gates County and Camden County are also among those cited to be in moderate risk.
