(WGHP) — Clouds will increase through the day, but temperatures remain well above normal.

Enjoy highs near 60 this afternoon, which is ten degrees above normal. Tonight, skies will stay cloudy with lows in the mid-40s.

Friday is going to be a mixed bag weatherwise as a couple of fronts come through. Most of the day, skies will be cloudy as a warm front surges northward, over the Piedmont. Rain, however, is going to hold off until later in the afternoon when a cold front sweeps across the state, west to east. Southwest winds will become really blustery, boosting temperatures back to the mid-60s.  The chance of rain is near 100%, and rainfall totals will be between 1/2″ and 3/4″.

The weekend looks beautiful and dry, so we’ll have a dry track for The Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium! Saturday is going to be mostly sunny with highs near 60. A cold front is forecast to drop south of the Carolinas during the day on Saturday, so Sunday will be cooler, in the mid-50s. Temperatures for the race will start in the upper 40s and fall into the mid-40s as the checkered flag is waved.

Next week is getting off to a warm start under mostly sunny skies. Highs will return to the upper 60s Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid-60s.
