WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – A debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump appears to be back on.

Trump told reporters Thursday he is ready to debate.

Both Vice President Harris and former president Trump told reporters they are looking forward to a September 10th debate.

Trump says he is ready to put his plans for the country up against Harris’s.

“I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight,” said Trump.

Harris says she is open to more debates.

“I am happy to have that conversation about the national debate or after September 10th,” she said.

Trump has been off the campaign trail this week.  He made the announcement about debates during a press conference from his Mar-A-Lago resort where he dismissed Harris’s momentum.

Trump returns with a rally in Montana on Friday.

“If she becomes president, our country is going to be a giant fail,” said Trump.

On day three of their battleground state tour Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, spent an extra day in Michigan speaking to members of the United Auto Workers.

“We want dignity for all people. We want to recognize. Right? All people have.,” said Harris.

Harris and Walz are set to rally supporters in the border state of Arizona Friday.
