Guilford County man sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing and trafficking firearms

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A Guilford County man was sentenced Wednesday, July 24 for the illegal possession and trafficking of firearms.

This was after a months-long investigation into the sale of 20 firearms in Greensboro. Marcus Devon Dalton was sentenced after pleading guilty in May. 

According to court records, a confidential informant told authorities about an illegal firearms dealer who was supplying both firearms and machinegun conversion devices in Greensboro. 

An agent coordinated multiple controlled purchases with the informant where Dalton illegally sold 20 firearms, including AR-15s from May 2022 to September 2023, according to court documents. Dalton was a previously convicted felon at the time, therefore he was not allowed to possess any firearms. 

Dalton was sentenced to 121 months in prison and he will be subject to supervised release for 3 years.
