Guilford County detention officer faces assault charges

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A Guilford County detention officer is facing assault charges, according to the sheriff’s office. 

Officer Patrick Wayne O’Brien was charged with felony assault inflicting serious injury; strangulation and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence. 

The sheriff’s office said O’Brien is still employed pending the completion of an investigation into the allegations.
