WILMINGTON — The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College is bringing classic rock ‘n’ roll act George Thorogood & The Destroyers to town next year.
The group will perform live in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2025. Rock ‘n’ roll duo Canyon Lights will perform as the opening act.
Known for hits like “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” and “Bad to the Bone,” George Thorogood & The Destroyers have been at the pinnacle of rock over the course of their five-decade career. Over the past year, they’ve been honored by the Recording Academy’s GRAMMY Museum, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Legends of Rock exhibit, and have performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and during their summer 2024 tour.
In addition to Thorogood, the group includes longtime Jeff Simon (drums), Bill Blough (bass), Jim Suhler (guitar), and Buddy Leach (saxophone). In their five-decade career, the group has played 8,000 live shows and sold more that 15 million albums.
Thorogood was also the first entertainer in history to receive the University of Delaware’s Medal of Distinction. This was coupled with the official renaming of a campus passageway near the site of Thorogood’s debut performance as “Thorogood Alley” in celebration of George Thorogood & The Destroyers’ 50th Anniversary.
“That’s all pretty good for the first 50 years,” Thorogood said in a press release. “But we keep working harder, digging deeper, and playing stronger. Now it’s time to go back out there and do some serious rockin’.”
