PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A Freeze Warning is in effect until 9 a.m.

High pressure continues to bring us sunny skies today, with highs close to 60°. The UV index is 7 out of 11.

An approaching system is forecast to push clouds back into our skies overnight, keeping temperatures mild.  Lows will be in the mid-40s.

Temperatures will rise on Thursday as warm air is pushed into the Piedmont. Clouds are going to be around all day, though showers are going to hold off until late afternoon. The chance of rain is 25%. Thursday night, the chance of rain rises to 80% and will stay there through Friday.  Rainfall totals are going to be between 1/2″ and 3/4″, and highs will be in the mid-60s on Thursday and Friday.

We dry out nicely over the weekend, even though there will be lingering clouds on Saturday.  High temperatures will squeak into the upper-50s on Saturday, but more sunshine is ahead for Sunday, giving temperatures a boost to the mid-60s.

As the new work week begins, get ready for more summer-like temperatures! We will have an area of high pressure sitting over the Southeastern U.S., bringing us mostly sunny skies on Monday with highs near 80°. Though another cold front is forecast to come through the Piedmont early Tuesday, there won’t be enough moisture to produce showers. We will, however, have plenty of clouds with highs in the upper-70s.
