RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection to the alleged murder of a missing Winston-Salem man whose remains were found months later, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).
Thomas “TK” Burton was reported missing on July 29. After being missing for two months, Burton was later identified after human remains were found at a home in Archdale.
Francisco Gonzalez, 19, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, according to an indictment report.
Gonzalez allegedly assisted Jaekob Shane Hill, who is accused of murdering Burton, with disposing of Burton’s belongings, and cell phones, and helping Hill escape the area.
According to court records, Gonzalez has been bonded out of custody.
WFMY News 2 reached out for a comment, the RCSO said the investigation was ongoing.
The Case
On Sept. 16, after being missing for months, Burton was identified after human remains were found at the home of 31-year-old Beau Benjamin Martin, according to court documents.Â
Randolph County deputies went to Martin’s home on Rob Cruthis Road in Archdale for assistance in an investigation into a missing person. They said they found remains at the property, but they weren’t identified at the time.
Martin was taken into custody and was charged with felony failure to report/conceal death after the remains were found. He was given a $15,000 bond.Â
Martin’s arrest eventually led investigators to identify the remains as those belonging to TK Burton.
Deputies charged Jaekob Shane Hill, 29, with the first-degree murder of Burton as well as felony conceal/failure to report a death on Oct. 31.
Caelob Teal, 26, Â was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact on Oct. 31.
