LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A former East Lincoln High School soccer coach is in jail on sexual assault charges after being arrested last week, records show.

Maxwell Fletcher, 30, was arrested after the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office identified another victim in the case. In addition to coaching, Fletcher was a teacher at W.C. Friday Middle School in Dallas, part of the Gaston County school system. Lincoln County Schools told WCNC Charlotte that Fletcher was an assistant coach in the fall of 2023, but is no longer associated with them. Deputies say Fletcher was also a coach for the Dry Pond travel baseball team based in Denver.

Fletcher is being held at the Lincoln County jail on a $100,000 bond. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-732-9050.

WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because the investigation is ongoing and more victims may come forward.
