(WGHP) — The weather will improve rapidly now, as the center of Tropical Depression Debby accelerates toward New England. River flooding will continue across the Piedmont and Coastal Plain into the weekend.
Scattered showers and variably cloudy skies are expected today as a cold front creeps into the Piedmont and stalls out.Â
The chance of rain is 50% though total rainfall amounts will remain below 0.25″.Â
We will have heat and humidity to deal with, as highs climb into the upper-80s and the heat index rises to the mid-90s.Â
Please stay well hydrated if you are outdoors today and wear bug repellant to keep mosquitoes at bay. Â
The southern Piedmont has the best chance for a shower or thunderstorm in the early evening, then it will be quiet overnight.Â
Lows will be near 70°.
Saturday through Monday, we’ll have partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures. Highs will be in the mid-to upper 80s.
By the middle of next week, highs are going to cool back to the lower-80s, and we’ll have scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday and Thursday.
