A South Carolina mother was fatally shot in a drive-by on Christmas, leaving behind five grieving children and a family seeking justice.

LEE COUNTY, S.C. — A family in Lee County is remembering their mother, who was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting on Christmas day.

Thirty-nine-year-old Calandra Nicole Troy was shot and killed in the Piedmont area off Hwy. 15 outside Bishopville. A sight one of her five children unfortunately witnessed.

“The youngest was outside, and her youngest baby was outside; if it wasn’t for Calandra’s younger baby grabbing the smaller baby, they would have gotten shot,” said Prissie Aerianiah, a family friend.

All five of Troy’s children and her granddaughter shared memories they will cherish forever. Now, all that’s left are the memories.

“We’ve been through a lot with her, and this is not no joke; this is our real life,” said one son. “People don’t come back in just a day. This is all real, not just a game; this is serious.”

“Her life was taken, and we have to go an eternity without her.”

Two more of her children said one memory they hold dear is the last one they could make before her tragic death.

“My favorite memory was on Thanksgiving when everyone came around, and we were dancing, singing and partying, just spending time together,” said Patience Troy.

“My favorite memory with my mom is watching movies with her before Christmas,” added Evia Wilson.

Her oldest daughter, Sheniah Troy, said the family is working with police to make an arrest.

“All I can say is this was wrong. Whoever did this deserves their karma,” she said. “I just [want] them to find who did this to my mother; she was a good person and did not deserve this.”

A family friend said all of Troy’s children will be staying with family for now.

Investigators said a second person was shot and taken to a nearby hospital – the condition of that person is unknown at this time. On Sunday night, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department confirmed it had made an arrest in the case and that additional information would follow during the week.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 803-484-5353.
