So how can you make your workout routine stick? Here’s what science says about keeping your fitness goals in 2025.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It’s that time of year when everybody is making their New Year’s resolutions and of course, many revolve around the gym and working out.Â
So how can you make your workout routine stick? Here’s what science says about keeping up with your fitness goals in 2025.Â
A massive study across 15 different universities looked at what it takes to make people who are already gym members actually go regularly. The first step? Planning ahead.Â
Researchers found that people are more likely to work out if they set a date and time with their gym instead of just showing up whenever they feel like it.Â
The strategy was even more effective when folks were sent reminders about going to the gym. A gentle nudge via text or email made people way more likely to show up and start sweating, especially if they skipped their last workout.Â
The study also found that a little reward can go a long way. Gysm that awarded points for working out or little shoutouts to members saw big spikes in attendance.Â
Some folks may be wondering if this applies to their at-home workouts. Experts say you can still use this method to reach your 2025 fitness goals. Just make sure to plan ahead, set reminders and reward yourself for following through.Â
