(WGHP) — An elevated fire risk remains in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday due to low humidity, dry/dormant fuel and occasional gusty winds. Outdoor burning should be avoided, and cigarettes and matches should be disposed of properly.
Temperatures this evening will fall into the 60s by 8 p.m. with clear to mostly clear skies remaining overnight.
We’ll start Thursday morning with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 40s, but clouds will begin to roll in through the morning. By the afternoon, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and temperatures will reach the mid 70s.
A mix of sun and clouds is expected on Friday with morning lows in the upper 40s and afternoon highs in the low 70s. Clouds will roll back in as we head into the overnight hours and into the weekend.
Mostly cloudy skies on Saturday with morning lows in the mid 50s and highs in the mid 70s. A few showers and scattered showers are possible mainly in the afternoon/evening Saturday in the western portion of the viewing area (Foothills/Western Triad). The chance for showers and storms Saturday is 40%.
The better chance for rain and storms, some of which could be severe, is on Sunday ahead of an approaching cold front. Some of the storms that roll through on Sunday may have the potential to produce damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado. It’s still early but the FOX8 weather team is watching Sunday’s forecast closely and details on timing and main impacts will be detailed in the coming days. The chance for storms Sunday is 80%. Temperatures will be in the low 60s in the morning with highs reaching the low to mid 70s.
A few lingering showers/storms will be possible overnight Sunday into early Monday but most will be dry by daybreak. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s Monday morning with highs in the low 60s. Skies will be mostly sunny.
Sunshine dominates into Tuesday with morning lows in the upper 30s and afternoon highs reaching the low 70s. We’ll continue to get a little warmer into Wednesday with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the mid 40s Wednesday morning and highs reach the mid 70s.
