PIEDMONT TRIAD N.C. (WGHP) — It’s going to be a warm, muggy day with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.Â
Highs today will climb into the upper-80s, but with the humidity factored in, the heat index will be in the mid-90s!
A complex of storms will rumble across the Appalachians today, arriving from the northwest in the late afternoon.Â
While we aren’t expecting widespread severe weather, these storms may produce gusty winds. Â
Tonight, an early shower or thunderstorm is possible, then skies will be partly cloudy overnight. Lows are going to settle to near 70° by morning.
Wednesday and Thursday, the chance of rain remains rather low, at or below 20%. High temperatures, however, are going to be hot, in the lower- to mid-90s.Â
On both days, we’re expecting partly cloudy skies.
By Friday, highs will be soundly in the mid-90s with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms.Â
A cold front will approach the Carolinas over the weekend, and eventually cross the Piedmont Sunday morning.Â
Highs will be near 90° on both days with the chance of rain hovering at 50% on Saturday and 30% on Sunday.Â
The cold front is forecast to fizzle out across the coastal plain, so Monday’s highs are going to make it to the upper-80’s with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.Â
