Expect bitter cold work week in Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — Bitter cold air is now in place and will remain through Thursday night. We should climb back above freezing on Thursday afternoon after nearly 90 hours below freezing.

Tonight will be mostly clear with lows around 13 in the Triad and near 10 in rural areas. Mountains will dip to near zero. Our wind chills will dip to between 5 and 10 in the Triad. Tomorrow will become mostly cloudy with a chance for some flurries over southern and eastern parts of our viewing area. Measurable snowfall is most likely near and east of I-95. Some of our beaches will get 2 to 4 inches of snow. Potentially up to 6 inches around Cape Hatteras. Highs tomorrow near 30.

Tomorrow night, cloudy with a few flurries in the far south and east early at night, then clearing late. Lows around 12 in the cities, around 8 or 9 degrees in rural areas. Wind chills dip to between 0 and 5.

Sunny on Wednesday with a high near 30. Back to 14 on Wednesday night. Thursday more clouds with a high of 37. Back to 21 on Thursday night.

We finally reach 41 on Friday with partly cloudy skies.

The weekend will be partly to mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid to upper 40s and lows in the 20s.
