(WGHP) — Friday will be a sunny day, followed by weekend rain.

Sunny with seasonal temperatures on Friday. Our morning temperatures will be in the upper 20s with highs in the upper 40s.

A cold front will bring showers for the first half of Saturday.  If the rain arrives too early, our foothills and mountains could see a wintry mix before it changes to rain.  Saturday morning temperatures will be near 32 degrees. After lunchtime on Saturday, our rain chances will drop with highs climbing into the upper 40s. Chance of rain 70%.

Sunday, our cold front will move across the state, and cold air will slowly move in. Scattered showers are in the forecast with lows in the lower 30s and highs in the lower 40s. As the cold air moves in, a few wet snowflakes could mix with the rain. Significant snow accumulation is not expected at this time. Chance of precipitation 60%.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday will be very cold. Sunny skies with lows in the upper teens and highs in the upper 20s.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies on Tuesday with a low of 12 degrees with afternoon highs in the middle 20s. Chance of precipitation 25%.

Wednesday, partly cloudy and still very cold with a low of 11 degrees with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 20s. Chance of precipitation 30%.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will watch for the chance of snow.  At this time, it appears that the snow will be to our far east and south.  But we will continue to watch in case the snow line moves into the Piedmont.

Thursday, mostly cloudy with lows in the middle teens and highs in the middle 30s.
