Escaped inmate from New Jersey arrested in Randolph County after traffic stop turns into chase

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man after he fled from police during a traffic stop on I-85 in Randolph County that turned into a chase into Davidson County on Sept. 9.

James Bradley, 24, the passenger in the vehicle, got out and ran from police on foot. A short foot chase followed where Bradley was arrested. Further investigation from police revealed Bradley was an escaped inmate from New Jersey. 

Bradley was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and received no bond. He is awaiting extradition on the Fugitive Order and appeared in the Randolph County District Court on Sept. 10.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was driving erratically and struck another vehicle in its path while they attempted to conduct the traffic stop.

Olrick Robinson, 26, the driver of the vehicle, was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center and charged with Felony Flee/Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Driving While License Revoked, Speeding in Excess of 65 miles per hour, and Improper Passing on Right. Robinson received a $10,000 bond and has a first court appearance scheduled for Sept. 16 at the Randolph County District Court.
