The driver spoke only with KHOU 11 about the suspected road rage incident that left bullet holes in his car.

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — A food delivery driver said a traffic dispute in Fort Bend County led to an apparent road rage shooting by a guy on horseback over the weekend.

In an interview you’ll see only on KHOU 11, Matthew, who didn’t want to use his last name, said he was on a rural stretch of road near FM 521, southwest of Sienna, when he ran into a traffic jam caused by people riding horses.

Matthew said he asked the three riders to move out of the way but they only responded with curse words.

“You serious man?” [expletive] you,” Matthew can be heard responding in a cell phone video he shot.

That’s when he said things took a turn.

“One of them blocks me on the right side with his horse, another put their horse right in front of my car, horizontally, dismounted and showed that he’s about to pull out a gun,” Matthew told us.

His video then goes to black as he guns his car through a ditch.

“I got around them and then I heard like a mortar sound of a shot go off,” Matthew said.

“I knew it was a gunshot, but I thought maybe they were trying to scare me.”

Matthew later discovered a bullet hole in his trunk and saw that it also struck a frying pan his aunt had given him before going straight through the backseat.

Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt.

“The cop said I was extremely lucky.”

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it’s investigating the incident but had made no arrests as of Tuesday afternoon.

It’s something Matthew hopes his video might help get done.

“Obviously, if they get away with stuff like that without any consequences, it’s kind of like destiny they’re going to do something like that again.”

He’s still pretty shaken up by the close call.

“Definitely have nightmares, that’s pretty much the main thing.”
