(WJW) – Dave Coulier‘s house and heart just got fuller.
The actor and comedian, who famously played Uncle Joey on the sitcom “Full House,” announced in an interview with Parade that he’s now a first-time grandfather. He revealed that his son Luc and daughter-in-law Alex welcomed a baby boy on March 27.
“We’re so excited,” he told the outlet in an interview published Monday, adding that he will be making many more trips to California, where Luc’s family lives, to spend time with the newest addition.

But there’s work to do at home, too. Coulier and his wife Melissa live in the Detroit area, and he told Parade they’ll be making sure their home is ready to accommodate the growing family when they visit.
“I have a lot to do. I built our home that I’m sitting in here,” he told Parade during the interview over Zoom. “I went to contractor school, and it took me 17 months to build our home. So there’s lots of work to do here on the exterior of the home. I want to get out my tractor and keep planting trees and beautifying our home space.”
Also on Monday, a representative for Coulier confirmed to People that the actor is now cancer-free. Coulier’s former “Full House” costar John Stamos also shared the news on Instagram the same day, saying Coulier contacted him to confirm he’d beaten cancer.
Coulier revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma after experiencing an upper respiratory infection in October.
“Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is one of the most common cancers in the United States, accounting for about 4% of all cancers. (It) is a cancer that starts in cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system,” according to the American Cancer Society. “B-cell lymphomas make up most (about 85%) of the non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) in the United States. These types of lymphomas start in early forms of B lymphocytes (B cells).”
Stage 3 means that the lymphoma has stayed within the lymph system.
Coulier told Parade a recent biopsy of a lymph node showed no signs of cancer, though he was awaiting results of a CAT scan.
He said he has been staying positive, and it sounds like his grandson will help with this goal.
“I don’t know how else to view this other than with a positive attitude, especially because I’m in a position where I can inspire others,” Coulier said during his Parade interview. “A negative attitude doesn’t inspire anybody. Positivity, though, can take you a long way.”
Luc is the only child of Coulier and his first wife, Jayne Modean.
