WILMINGTON — An international dance sensation is taking on the Prince of Denmark in a show coming to Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center this fall.
Produced by Ex Machina, Côté Danse and Dvoretsky Productions, “The Tragedy of Hamlet,” will be at Wilson Center on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. The show is co-created by choreographer Guillaume Côté and director Robert Lepage.
“Hamlet” is Shakespeare’s most popular tragedy, with the protagonist in a dark place after the death of his father. Hamlet seeks to avenge his father’s death, descends into madness, and questions everyone around him.
Performed by nine dancers, the production is an intense metaphoric re-imagination of the Shakespearean drama, featuring various dance styles such as classical ballet, contemporary dance, and street dance.
Tickets go on sale to Wilson Center members here on Tuesday, March 18, and to the general public at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 20.
