PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Showers continue today, at least into the late afternoon.  High temperatures will be much cooler than normal (average high: 70°), only making it to the mid-50s. The chance of rain is 80%, and total rainfall is expected between 1/4″ and 1/2″.

Scattered clouds sweep across the Piedmont overnight, allowing lows to dip into the mid-40s by daybreak.

Over the weekend, we will dry out and slowly warm up as high pressure slides toward the Appalachians. Expect mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies on Saturday, with highs approaching 60°. By Sunday, sunshine really takes over and temperatures are going to warm to the upper-60s. Pollen counts will hold steadily in the HIGH category, mainly for tree pollen.

Unseasonably warm weather is forecast to settle in for the beginning of the work week.  We will be able to enjoy mostly sunny skies on Monday, with highs in the lower-80s. A cold front will slide through the state early Tuesday, bringing high temperatures back to 70° under partly cloudy skies.

High pressure will build in once again, keeping the forecast dry for the rest of the work week.  We will hold temperatures steadily in the mid- to upper-60s on Wednesday and Thursday, with sunny to partly cloudy skies.
