(WGHP) — We have all the ingredients to support severe storms this evening, but we have nothing to force the storms to form. To put it in different terms, it’s as if we had all the ingredients to bake a cake, but we don’t have the oven to actually bake the cake.
With that being said, most of us will likely remain dry and quiet. A level 2 threat for severe weather is in place just in case anything does “force” the storms to pop. If storms can form, damaging winds and hail will be the primary threats with the very low potential for an isolated tornado. Temperatures will be in the low 80s through the evening hours with cloudy skies.Â
Overnight, we’ll remain warm and muggy, and we’ll watch storms try to make their way in from the west. If they’re strong enough to make it through the mountains, we could see some showers or storms very early Saturday between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Temperatures will start off in the upper 60s Saturday morning with highs reaching the mid 80s. While we’ll see clouds and lingering showers Saturday morning, mostly sunny skies return for the afternoon. As a cold front pushes through in the second half of the day Saturday, some pop up showers or storms will be possible again but most will likely stay dry Saturday as well.Â
Drier air will move in by Sunday behind the cold front, but temperatures will remain warm. We’ll start Sunday in the low to mid 60s with afternoon highs reaching the low to mid 80s. Skies will be partly cloudy.Â
Partly cloudy skies remain on Monday with morning lows in the low 60s and highs in the low to mid 80s. A stray shower can’t be ruled out but most remain dry.
A mix of sun and clouds on Tuesday with morning lows in the low to mid 60s with highs in the low 80s. Isolated showers are possible on Tuesday with a 30% chance for rain.
Scattered rain and storms are possible on Wednesday with our next cold front. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s in the morning with highs in the upper 70s. The chance for rain/storms is 50%.
Cooler air arrives behind Wednesday’s front with morning lows in the upper 50s on Thursday and afternoon highs in low 70s. A lingering stray shower can’t be ruled out, but most remain dry with a 20% chance for rain.
Partly cloudy skies and cooler temperatures on Friday with morning lows in the low 50s and highs in the low 70s.Â
