(WGHP) — After a comfortable afternoon in the Triad, temperatures will fall into the 50s for the evening with clear skies. Skies remain clear overnight, and temperatures fall into the low 40s by Saturday morning.
Saturday will be warm and windy. Temperatures will climb into the upper 60s ahead of our next cold front which arrives by the afternoon. While we won’t see rain from the cold front, you’ll notice partly cloudy skies, windy conditions and temperatures falling once the front moves through. Winds will be between 10 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph possible. Since it’ll be dry and windy, a fire weather watch is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. Outdoor burning is extremely discouraged and please refrain from using equipment that causes sparks. Cigarette butts and matches should also be properly disposed of as any lingering embers could lead to a fire forming quickly.
Behind Saturday’s front it’ll feel like a different season. We’ll start Sunday morning in the mid 20s and afternoon highs reach the upper 40s with sunny skies.
Temperatures begin to warm back up into the work week. Monday starts in the mid 20s but we’ll reach the low 50s by the afternoon with partly cloudy skies. Tuesday brings mostly cloudy skies and another slight increase in temperatures. Morning temperatures start in the mid 30s and afternoon highs near the mid 60s.
A strong cold front arrives on Wednesday and brings the chance for thunderstorms, some of which may be severe. With the potential for severe weather on Wednesday, make sure you’re paying attention to the forecast in the coming days. We’ll start Wednesday in the mid 50s and afternoon highs reach the upper 60s before the front moves through. Winds will also be strong out of the south at 15 to 25 mph and gusts reaching 40 mph, or stronger with thunderstorms. The chance for storms is 70%.
Winds remain breezy out of the north on Thursday with mostly sunny skies. Temperatures start in the low 40s Thursday morning with highs reaching the mid 50s.
A mix of sun and clouds on Friday with morning lows in the mid 30s and highs reaching the upper 50s.
