(WGHP) — A cold front will keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Friday.
Scattered clouds on Friday morning will give way to scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A few thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail. Highs on Friday will be in the mid to upper 70s. Chance of rain 50%.
Behind the cold front, Saturday will be mostly cloudy and cooler with lows around 50 degrees and highs in the lower 70s.
Mother’s Day Sunday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the lower 70s. A late day shower is possible. Chance of rain 20%.
A slow moving low pressure system will begin pumping moisture into the Piedmont on Monday. Rain is likely with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Chance of rain 60%. Rain could be heavy at times.
Rain, that could be heavy at times, will continue into Tuesday. A few thunderstorms are also possible on Tuesday. Look for high temperatures to be in the lower 70s. Chance of rain 80%.
By Wednesday, our rain maker should be near the North Carolina/Virginia border. With the system still in the region, scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast. Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 70s. Chance of rain 50%.
Finally, by Thursday our stubborn low pressure system will move away from North Carolina. Skies will be partly sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 20%.
