Cold front coming to Piedmont Triad will increase rain chances

(WGHP) — The Piedmont will get the chance to enjoy a pleasant Thursday.

We’ll see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies by Thursday afternoon. Our highs will be in the middle 80s. While most of us will be dry, there is a tiny chance that few neighborhoods could see a spotty shower.

An approaching cold front will increase our rain chances on Friday. Look for partly cloudy skies with highs in the middle 80s. The chance of rain is 30%.

Saturday will not be a washout, but we will see our highest rain chances during the afternoon and evening. Under partly cloudy skies, our highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. The chance of rain is 40%.

It will be partly cloudy Sunday with highs in the middle 80s.

We’ll see sunny to partly cloudy skies Monday and Tuesday with highs in the middle 80s.

On Wednesday, we’ll see sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 80s. Wednesday will also carry a small chance for a possible shower.

In the tropics, Hurricane Ernesto will move across the open Atlantic. By Friday, Ernesto could be a major hurricane with winds over 111 mph. Late Friday into Saturday, Ernesto will approach Bermuda. After Bermuda, Ernesto should race across the North Atlantic. While the system should not make landfall in the United States, Ernesto could generate rough surf for our beaches this weekend.
