Cold front coming to Piedmont Triad could spark thunderstorm

(WGHP) — Late summer heat will continue to cook the Piedmont.

It will be mostly sunny on Wednesday with highs in the middle 90s. Factor in the humidity, it will feel like our temperatures are near 100 degrees.

An approaching cold front could spark an isolated thunderstorm on Thursday with highs in the low to middle 90s. Our heat index will be near 100 degrees. The chance of rain is 25%.

On Friday, the cold front will be a little closer, bringing us a better chance for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Highs on Friday will be in the upper 80s. The chance of rain is 40%.

Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances will continue into Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 80s. The chance of rain is 40%.

On Labor Day Monday, a cold front will slowly make its way across the state. Look for partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The chance of rain is 30%.

The cold front could stall along the North/South Carolina border on Tuesday. If the front stalls, scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast with highs falling into the upper 70s. The chance of rain is 30%.
