Cloudy skies will greet you this morning, but by lunchtime a clearing trend will be underway.  We’ll have partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies this afternoon with highs around 77°.

The UV index will be 8 out of 11.

The evening starts with mostly clear skies, then we’ll see clouds increasing overnight.  Lows are going to be near 60° by daybreak.

Friday will be the opposite of today, starting with partly cloudy skies, then becoming cloudier by late afternoon.  Highs will rise to near 80° and no rain is in the forecast.

Area football games will be in good shape, and make sure to catch all the highlights on FOX8 High School Football Frenzy after the FOX8 10:00  news!

Over the weekend, the weather looks great for the NC Folk Festival and the Central Carolina Fair!  A cold front will be butted up against the Appalachians Saturday morning, pushing ample clouds and warmer air into the Piedmont.

As the front moves across the state during the day, temperatures will rise to near 80°, and skies will become partly cloudy by afternoon.  There isn’t much (if any) moisture to produce showers, so the probability of rain has been reduced to the single digits.

By Sunday morning, the cold front will be draped across the Coastal Plain and the Piedmont-Triad will be treated to morning temperatures in the mid-50s, and highs in the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies.

Sunny conditions stay in the forecast as the new work week begins thanks to high pressure building up across the Southeastern U.S., and highs will warm to the upper-70s to near 80° Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower-80’s.
