Cloudy skies, 20% chance of rain on Wednesday in Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s going to be a cloudier, chillier day!

We are starting the day with partly cloudy skies, but northeast winds will blow clouds into Piedmont skies through the morning.

Temperatures today will only make it to the lower-50s, which is seasonable.

Stubborn clouds remain in place overnight with a slim, 40% chance of rain near daybreak. Most showers will be north of the Triad, along the North Carolina-Virginia line. Lows are going to settle to the upper-30s.

A warm front will surge north of us tomorrow, clearing our skies and bringing highs back to the lower-60s. Friday, also, will be lovely with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper-60s as another cold front dives to our south.

The weekend will be a mixed bag, with highs in the mid-50s Saturday under cloudy skies. A very pleasant warm-up to the upper-60s is expected Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

Once the weekend passes, there will be a whole new weather pattern to get used to for the upcoming work week. High pressure will be planted over eastern Canada and New England for the first half of the week, pumping cold air down the East Coast. Highs are going to plummet to the mid-40s on Monday, then upper-30s on Tuesday! We will also have persistent chances of rain in the forecast, a 40% chance on Monday, and a 70% chance on Tuesday.
