Cloud cover on an unseasonably warm Monday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — High, thin clouds are streaming across our Piedmont skies this morning, and we are expecting the clouds to increase through the day. Despite the cloud cover, high temperatures are going to be unseasonably warm, reaching the mid-80s.

Skies will partially clear overnight with lows near 60°.

Most of tomorrow will be partly cloudy with highs near 80°. A strong storm system is going to rumble across the Eastern United States, pushing a warm front northward, across the Piedmont late Tuesday. A line of showers and thunderstorms is forecast to cross the North Carolina mountains around midnight Wednesday morning, and we may have some storms spill into the FOX8 viewing area between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. There is a Level 1/Marginal Risk of severe weather on Tuesday night.

Aside from some leftover morning showers, Wednesday is going to be lovely, with mostly sunny skies and highs returning to the mid-80s.

Starting Thursday, highs are going to be delightful, in the lower to mid-70s, through the weekend.  The weather will stay dry, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
