Chance for thunderstorms in the Triad on Thursday night

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — We’re starting with mostly clear skies, but we’ll have cloudier conditions taking over by this afternoon.  Highs will be in the mid- to upper-70s today.

Mostly cloudy skies stay put overnight with lows in the upper-50s.

A warm front is headed toward the Piedmont tomorrow. We are expecting partly cloudy skies during the day with highs near 80°. There is just a 20% chance of showers, but tomorrow night, the chance of rain increases to 60%. We may have some thunderstorms Thursday night as well, and there is a Level 1/Marginal Risk of storms that may produce damaging winds.

Early Friday, a cold front is forecast to sweep across the state. We will continue to have mostly cloudy skies with a 25% chance of isolated showers.  Highs are going to return to the mid-70s.

Cooler air works its way in over the weekend, bringing highs to the upper-60s on Saturday and lower-70s on Sunday.  We will continue to have mostly cloudy skies through the weekend, though the chance of rain is going to remain fairly low, around 25%.

As the new work week begins, get ready for some wet weather!  An area of low pressure is going to bubble up from the Gulf, bringing showers to the forecast on Monday (60%), then thunderstorms on Tuesday (70%).  Temperatures are going to be steady both days, in the lower to mid-70s.
