(WGHP) — A cold front is stalled out to our northwest, bringing showers to the mountains and foothills of North Carolina this morning.
Clouds are forecast to thicken through the morning, then scattered showers and thunderstorms may rumble across the Piedmont this afternoon. We are in a Level 1/Marginal Risk of isolated storms producing gusty winds or large hail. The chance of rain is 40% and highs will be in the upper 70s.
Skies will be partly cloudy overnight as the cold front finally drops to our south. Expect lows near 60.
We will have persistent clouds tomorrow and Thursday with a chance of showers, mainly south of the Triad. Highs will stay in the mid-70s both days.
A new system is forecast to churn toward the East Coast by the end of the week. Ahead of this system, temperatures will warm up to the upper 70s on Friday and Saturday. While we are expecting showers on Friday, there may be more thunderstorms on Saturday as a cold front advances across the state.
Sunday and Monday will be beautiful and calm. Enjoy partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower to mid-70s.
